I do regret not rejecting the room upfront and go someplace else. I will give the gateway inn another chance in about a year. inspect every room weekly and thoroughly every month without bias. The manger could have called each room to have the owner disable the malfunctioning alarmĪll of these issues are easily fixable by the owner. My partner left got dressed and went to sleep to a girlfriend's house 5 miles away because of the cacophony of the air conditioner's fan bad bearing noise, the possessed car alarm and the road noise. I did not expect the Hotel to ignore the car alarm that was going off continuously from 6:30 PM to 4AM in the morning. I expected some road noise from the busy Sunrise Highway, but most of noise came from the 1960 stile aluminum windows. Then the lavatory did not drain, and the toilet needed a double flush. Later on, I discovered that the bathtub had mold and did not drain well, building up soapy water around my ankles. As I paid more this time, I was dismayed to find a room with a smaller bed, smaller TV with no mini fridge (I had some diet food and drink that needed refrigeration. However, this time I had a less than satisfactory experience.
I have been frequenting this hotel several times. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Its not like they are charging less for these horrible conditions. For $10 more I can stay at a Hampton Inn or Best Western and have a much greater experience. The lobby never reopened and breakfast is gone too. It used to be nice and now its just plain disgusting. Reported that on my first day, they said they would fix but never did. The sink in the bathroom isn't crewed in so you have to hold with two hands to turn the water on. It looks like a tenament, The bed spread is full of stains with no effort made to hide them. While they put a new floor in, the walls are dirty with holes and crackling spackle. They clearly are not maintaining any of the rooms anymore. Over the last 5 years, every trip I go the condition deteriorates some more.
It was dated but clean and maintained well. I have been staying at this hotel for many years when I go to Merrick to visit family.
